Well at least we have the dark night returns becuse this looks awful. I guess 3D cartoons are the latest rave these days I am assumeing this is for little kids, can't see it being very dark. Probibly along the lines of green lantern or amazing spiderman. Guess we will see I hear it's coming on early next year.
2012, Comedy, Science Fiction
"Three magazine employees head out on an assignment to interview a guy who placed a classified ad seeking a companion for time travel."
Not sure about anyone else, but I for one had not heard about this movie anywhere. Never seen a trailer, never saw it listed in theatres, and hadn't heard anyone talk about it. I happened to come by it on a sort of "most recently released" top 10 list. I was in a mood for a movie and didn't want to get sucked into the dark hole that is never ending IMDB searches and YouTube trailers. So I picked the first movie I had not seen and ran with it.
Safety Not Guaranteed stars Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) as Darius, Jake Johnson (New Girl, 21 Jump Street) and newcomer Karan Soni as Arnau. Kenneth, the man who wrote the classified, is played by Mark Duplass from comedy The League and recently Your Sister's Sister. There is also a short appearance by Veronica Mars star Kristen Bell.
As the summary suggests a magazine editor and 2 interns head out to Ocean View, Washington, to investigate an odd classified ad that appeared recently in the paper. The classified read "Wanted: Somebody to go back in time with me. This is not a joke. You'll get paid after we get back. Must bring your own weapons. I have only done this once before. Safety not guaranteed." Weird enough as it is, turns out the man who wrote it is just as nutters. The film is listed as science fiction but it really is not the type of movie that comes to mind when one says science fiction. In fact 99% of the movie is completely normal.
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and would highly recommend to others. Just be warned: it is a bit "weird". Overall excellent characters and interesting dialogue, this is not a big Hollywood action packed movie. Just a down to earth intriguing mix of a love story, comedy and time travel.
